Suspect arrested after short police chase in Steubenville

By NEWS9

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio

Steubenville police arrested a man after a short chase on Wednesday night.

Weirton police told them to be on the lookout for a car involved in a hit skip, and when Steubenville police spotted the car near Fourth and South streets, they said it took off.

Officers chased him for four blocks before they said he ran into the porch of an apartment in the 400 block of South Sixth Street.

Johnathan Peterson, 50, faced several charges, including fleeing and eluding and driving under suspension. This is also his second OVI charge.

He was sentenced Thursday morning to 33 days in the Jefferson County Jail. He will also have to appear in Weirton courts for charges he's facing there, including property damage.
