Wheeling DMV site closes

By Philip Stahl

WHEELING, W.Va.—

Officials with the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles said that Wednesday would the last day services would be offered at the Wheeling DMV site, located inside the state police barracks in South Wheeling.

“We were only there on Wednesdays, and by moving the staff back down to Moundsville that day, there will be more people to help in one centralized location,” said Natalie Harvey with the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles.

The cost-cutting measure is expected to save the state several thousands of dollars.

“This exam site in Wheeling was the last site that shared services with the state police,” said Harvey.

Harvey said that it was estimated only 40-50 people went to the Wheeling site on Wednesdays. She said that the Moundsville and Weirton locations are open FIVE days a week and the employees who worked in Moundsville who traveled to Wheeling once a week would stay in Moundsville.
