Man Allegedly Flees From Police Into Local Plant

WHEELING, W.V.a. —

A Wheeling business was evacuated Thursday night after a man fled into a local plant, allegedly running from police.

According to police, the incident started with a traffic stop in Benwood, but led to four different agencies surrounding the Wheeling plant with their guns drawn.

Benwood police said they spotted Jordan Laudermilt driving what they believe was a stolen black Dodge Neon, but when the officer tried to pull him over, he sped off.

The chase crossed into Wheeling, into the industrial plant area near McColloch Street. Several other agencies joined the chase and got Laudermilt stopped near the Environmental Protection Services plant, but he took off on foot into the plant.

All workers were evacuated for their safety. Officers surrounded the building and brought in K-9 units to search. Police even used surveillance video in the search. Police later found him hiding in a rolling mechanism on top of a garage door.

"Once he was found, he was noncombative, but noncompliant. So we ultimately led him to bring him down safely from where he had been hiding," said Cpl. J.A. Laing of the West Virginia State Police.

Police said Laudermilt did not have any weapons on him. He's being held in the Northern Regional Jail on numerous charges in Ohio and Marshall counties.
