Shawn Brookins, 24,was charged in the death of Eric Crayton in May of last year.
Brookins was scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in March, but the prosecutor on the case said he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. The prosecutor consulted with the victim’s family before approving the deal.
