Man Dies, Woman Injured After 2 Separate ATV Crashes

SALINE TOWNSHIP, Ohio —

Police are warning all-terrain vehicle riders to be cautious after two crashes in two days.

Police said Brandon Pugh, of Akron, died Monday of injuries he suffered in an ATV accident in Saline Township in an area known as "The Pits."

According to Saline Township Police Chief Ken Hayes, Pugh was riding a side-by-side ATV when he was struck in the throat by a tree branch.

He was taken to East Liverpool Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

The crash marked the second ATV accident in as many days. Amber Kosul was airlifted to a hospital Sunday evening. Hayes said Kosul's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

According to Hayes, injuries resulting from off-roading in Saline Township are an ongoing issue.

"It's been a problem since I've been here, and I've been here for 20 years," he said.
