MONROE COUNTY, Ohio —

A man was killed when he was struck by a minivan as he was lying on a Monroe County road.

Derek Roberton, 32, of Clarington, was lying on State Route 78 at mile marker 23 near Woodsfield when he was struck.

Monroe County Assistant Coroner David Kuhn said Roberton may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Investigators said a 59-year-old man was driving west on Route 78 when his 2001 Ford Windstar struck Roberton.

Monroe County sheriff's deputies and the Woodsfield Fire Department were called to the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
