By Briona Arradondo and  NEWS9

WHEELING, W.VA. —

Wheeling police are investigating Sunday a shooting incident that left a man badly injured.

Calls came in about 11:49 p.m. Saturday that a man was beaten, stabbed in the neck and shot at 225 Washington Avenue. Police toldNEWS9 the victim, about 40 years old, is in critical condition after being flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for his injuries. The victim's name is not being released at this time.

NEWS9's Briona Arradondo talked to neighbors in the area about what they saw. They said the neighborhood typically doesn't see much crime.

"(We saw) fire trucks, an ambulance and just a lot of police officers … and the sheriff's department. It looked to be like they were getting ready to surround the house," said Sean Doyle, who lives on the street.

Police said they talked to several witnesses, and they have a warrant for Robert Glenn Robertson, 52, also known as "KO," for attempted murder in connection with the shooting.

"He disappeared from the scene at the time, so we are looking for him. We're hoping that he gets word that we're looking for him and comes in," said Sgt. Rob Marriner, of Wheeling police.

Despite the violence, neighbors said they still feel safe.

"This area's a great area. I grew up here, so I've been here for a long time," said Doyle. "It's not a dangerous area. We have isolated incidents that happen."

Police said Robertson has an extensive rap sheet.
