WEIRTON, W.Va. —

At around 2 a.m. Friday, a man broke into Weirton Novelty by breaking the front door. However, with thousands of dollars of merchandise inside the store, the thief only stole a mannequin.

Surveillance video shows the man drive up to the store, and then drive away. However, when he came back, he made the decision to break into the store with what looks like a sledgehammer. He smashed the door, and grabbed a mannequin, and as it fell apart, he ran out. He only got away with the top part of the mannequin and one arm.

"I think once he gets caught, it's going to be a very bad thing. All that for a mannequin," said store employee Leia Margerum. "And who knows, the fines will probably be ridiculous, and we are going to prosecute. We are not going to let it go. It was just not a good idea," she said.

The damage to the front door cost about $1500 to repair, Margerum said.

Weirton police say they are investigating the incident. The owner is offering a $500 reward for anyone who can help find the thief. You are asked to call the Crime Busters Tip Line at 1-800-862-BUST with any information.
