Man turns himself in for allegedly assaulting county sheriff

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio —

A man is in the Columbiana County Jail after allegedly assaulting the sheriff and fleeing the scene, according to authorities.

 

Sheriff's deputies told NEWS9 Lucas Sims surrendered to authorities Friday night after he eluded arrest two times.

 

Deputies said they tried to serve him a warrant Thursday for failure to pay child support. Sims allegedly knocked down Sheriff Ray Stone with his arm while he evaded arrest.

 

He faces charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and fleeing. He is in jail with no bond set.
