BELLAIRE, Ohio —

State police captured Robert F. Henry, 33, of Bellaire after a manhunt that lasted nearly 8 hours.

Numerous law enforcement officials were chasing him believing he stole a car in Belmont County.

At 4 p.m., police were still searching using K-9 units and an Ohio State Highway Patrol airplane to search for the man.

Police said they attempted to stop the man around 10 a.m. when they discovered his license plates weren't registered to the car he was driving.

The man sped down a winding road at speeds up to 70 mph, lost control, and crashed over a hill. Police said the man then fled in a wooded area between Shadyside and Bellaire.

Officials said several deputies got close to the suspect, but because of the thick brush in the area, they lost sight of him.

State police tell NEWS9 two off-duty volunteer fire fighters spotted Henry making his way up the creek-bed that runs parallel to State Rt. 147.

Henry is in the Belmont County Jail awaiting further charges.
