Memorial Day Services Held Across The Ohio Valley

On Monday, people across the Ohio Valley observed Memorial Day, paying tribute to the men and women who gave their lives for America.

"The importance of Memorial Day is to remember those that have sacrificed, those who have served. It's a thank you from the nation for all the service men and women throughout the years," said Hank Segle.

In Follansbee, community members gathered in the late morning for a Memorial Day program and parade.

In Wheeling, people gathered at Heritage Port to sing patriotic music in honor of veterans.

In Wintersville, horns played and balloons were released at 57th annual Fort Steuben Burial Estates Memorial Day service.

In talking about the meaning of Memorial Day, James Metcalf said, "This is one of the easiest and best ways we can do that," remember them.
