A blog post by local talk radio host David Blomquist has drawn the ire of the United Mine Worker's Union.

Blomquist is the host of 'The Bloomdaddy Experience" on WWVA-AM.

The blog was about bumper stickers that read "proud wife of a coal miner."

Read Blomquist's blog here.

The blog post read, in part:

"IS IT TOUGH...DEMANDING....HONORABLE WORK?  ABSOLUTELY!!!!  BUT IT'S NOT UP THERE WITH NAVY SEAL...ASTROPHYSICIST...OR HOST OF THE TODAY SHOW.  IT'S NOT LIKE SOMEONE WITH A GED...2 ARMS AND 2 LEGS COULDN'T DO IT.  WITH THAT SAID...COULD I DO IT?  NO...BECAUSE I'M ALLERGIC TO MANUAL LABOR AND I'M SOFT....SO THERE YA GO."

Blomquist's blog page includes a facebook comments section which had drawn more than 350 comments by 9:45 p.m. Thursday.

United Mine Workers president  Cecil Roberts responded on the union's web site.

"These women (and some men) never really know when their spouses go off to work if they will come back," read the statement. "They put on a brave face and kiss their spouse goodbye every day, and breathe a hidden sigh of relief every day when they come home. Their daily bravery is something that is also clearly beyond Mr. Blomquist's capabilities."

Roberts demanded an apology from WWVA radio and its parent company, Clear Channel Communications.
