Minimum Wage: On The Rise?

Money, something that's important to all of us and most of us don't complain about having too much, more than likely, we're wanting to know, why can't there be more in my pocket?

Right now, many states across the country are re-examining the minimum wagerate in recent years.

Ccurrently, the federal minimum wage rate is $5.15 per hour, its been that way, since 1997 but in the last few years 17 set minimums above federal rate.

11 of them raised their rates in January last year.

A move that's helped the number of workers nationwide making at or below minimum wage 4.8 million in 1997 to 2 million last year.

But for Ohioans, getting by on minimum wage means making ends meet on the minimum of the minimum.

Ohio is one of 2 stats in the country who's minimum rate is well below the federal rate, at $4.25 per hour.

That amounts to about $170.00 per week, and that means a minimum wage worker in Ohio could be living on just over $8,000.00 a year.

A push is on right now to let the voters decide how much they should make by putting a minimum wage initiative on the ballot next year in 9 states including Ohio.
