Monroe County Toddler Receives Her Wish

MONROE COUNTY, Ohio —

Two-year-old Karley Williams is paving the road for others on how to fight and treat a rare disorder that has taken the lives of many.

She faces an uphill battle everyday but Monday was a very special day for the girl.

Karley wished she received a new playhouse and Monday morning, her wish was granted.

"It's an excellent day, she hasn't had many good days in her life and today is one of the best," said James Williams, Karley's dad.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation gave Karley the playhouse after they were aware of her story, all because she could be an inspiration to others.

In April, Karley had a heart transplant.

Her rare condition is known as C.P.T.2 and her dad tells NEWS9 that no baby in the medical world has ever lived past 5 months with this disorder, that's until Karley Williams.

He said in April 2008, President George W. Bush signed into law that each state has mandatory newborn screenings like Ohio.

"Karley is living proof of the program, the program works because it can save the life of a child," said Williams.

Williams now begins the effort to push Bush and Congress to mandate funding for this program.

Karley's dad wants to thank everyone from family, friends to the community for their support.
