More than 80 fire victims helped by Red Knights in 2012

By NEWS9

WEIRTON, W.Va. —

The Red Knights International Firefighters Motorcycle Club West Virginia Chapter VI released the number of people helped by their Victims of Fire fund in 2012.

Treasurer Fred Marsh said Thursday more than 80 fire victims were helped at more than two dozen fire scenes throughout 2012.

"The fund is the busiest between Thanksgiving and probably March," said Marsh. "We have a policy that either the fire chief, the fire officer, elected official or one of our members makes contact with the committee, and our committee has a standard policy. The committee decided $50 per person up to $250."

In 2012, the Red Knights West Virginia Chapter VI raised $7,969.82 through two fundraising events and outside donations.
