Mother Speaks Out After Weirton Shooting

WEIRTON, W.Va. —

A mother spoke out about a weekend shooting in Weirton that could have put her daughter and grandchildren in harms way.

Tamara Kennedy peeled back plastic taped to a window-less driver's side door to show NEWS9 cameras the damage done to her daughter's car. Kennedy said all the damage was caused by two shot gun blasts she heard Saturday around 5:30 a.m.

"I could care less about the car," said Kennedy. "It's what could have been in this car. She could have been getting up and going to work, but thank God she was off that day. It's very hurtful and it's scary. My daughter fears for her life now because we don't know if it's going to happen again."

On Monday, Weirton police said they were still investigating the case Monday.

Kennedy said she hopes someone will help find the person or people responsible for the shooting.

"Whoever did this, please step up to the plate. Own up. Man up, please. If anyone knows who did this or what happened, please let the police know," she said.
