Motorcyclist severely wounded during hit-and-run crash

NEWELL, W.Va. —

A motorcyclist suffered severe injuries after a hit and run crash in Hancock County early Friday.


Deputies said Kenneth McCall, of Newell, was parked on his motorcycle waiting for the Newell Diner to open when a car swerved, struck him and drove off.



The suspect, James Michael Edwards, of Kentucky, was arrested on charges of fleeing the scene of an accident with injuries and bonded out of jail Friday morning.


McCall was airlifted by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital with severe leg injuries.



The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. near the C. Hackett car dealership on state Route 2 in Newell. Sheriff Mike White said Edward was driving a large sport utility vehicle when he allegedly struck McCall.


While said Edwards is also accused of crashing into a car during the incident.
