MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. —

Moundsville police are seeking a man and woman caught on surveillance video stealing a purse from a shopping cart.

The theft happened on July 25 just before noon at Walmart.

A Moundsville police official said the victim left her purse in the shopping cart. The purse, which is a dark blue West Virginia University purse, contained a glucometer, checkbook, debit card, and cellphone.

Investigators said a woman saw the purse in the cart-return area when she returned her own cart. The woman then entered an older small white box van, possibly a GMC Safari or Chevy Astro.

A man who was driving the van then drove with the woman to the return cart area, then the woman took the purse and the couple left the area.

Anyone who can identify the man and woman seen in the surveillance photos is asked to call Moundsville police or the NEWS9 Lauttamus Security Crime Busters Tipline at 800-862-BUST. Tips can also be emailed to crimebusters@wtov.com.
