National Road Work

The national road project, in Wheeling, is something that is supposed to improve traffic flow but before that happens the construction is causing a headache for drivers. The construction project is necessary because increased business is causing a major traffic problem. While the current traffic tie ups are a pain, there will be much more space to move around in the end.

Highway officials say once work is complete there will be five lanes, including a turning lane. The work started in the summer of 2004. Crews are working six days a week to finish up the major work before winter.

Soon crews will begin pouring concrete that will more than double the lanes on the bridge. Once the work is complete drivers say it will all be worth it.
