New administration takes reins in Martins Ferry

By Eric Minor

MARTINS, FERRY, Ohio —

Belmont County's biggest city has a new administrative team.

Martins Ferry Mayor Paul Reithmiller took the oath of office at city hall Wednesday night alongsideĀ seven city council members.

Reithmiller defeated longtime incumbent Phil Wallace in the 2011 election.

Reithmiller made three administrative appointments during Wednesday's swearing-in ceremony. Chuck Bennett has been namedĀ service director. Bill Suto will serve as safety director. David Snyder has been named EMS coordinator.

"These have been lifelong residents of the city," said Reithmiller. "They've worked in town one way or another. They know people in our business community. They have support already because of the family names and what they mean to this community."

Reithmiller's term official starts Jan. 1.
