Kwik King Owner John Riley said, "It's a no-brainer for us. We're in Toronto, Wintersville, Wellsville, East Liverpool, Follansbee and Steubenville. So geographically, this makes perfect sense for us to expand to Weirton."
Riley said his new $1.5 million store and gas station will offer something residents and drivers can't currently get.
"There's really nothing off Route 22 from Steubenville all the way to Imperial, Penn., to get off, get gas, shop at a convenient store and get back on the highway," said Riley.
With the economy still sliding, Altair Development and Valley Ventures are thrilled that a local business is growing and developers say they're just getting started.
Developer Mike Chek said, “We're going to work for some business condominiums. We'll build some town homes and apartments down the road."
Developers said land that isn't buildable will be home to walking trails, even a 10-foot waterfall.
Construction for the new Kwik King is expected to start within the next two months and owners hope to have it open by Christmas.
