New details on shots fired in Steubenville

By Alex Koscevic

STEUBENVILLE, OHIO –

After shots were fired in Steubenville Tuesday morning, NEWS9 has learned those shots weren't fired at someone, but rather up in the air, in celebration of Memorial Day.

No one was injured and there were no damages, but City Manager Cathy Davison said the incident still makes the city look unsafe.

This incident comes less than a week after city officials announced they will be cracking down on crime and that agencies will come together and work even harder to send a message that crime won't be tolerated.

"As we move forward, our message is, we are not going to put up with people terrorizing our community. And we're being tough on criminals, and we're asking our residents to be a part of the team," Davison said.

The city manager went on to say the crime hasn't gotten worse, but that people have become more aware of the problem.
