New Martinsville man arrested in robbery

By Philip Stahl

NEW MARTINSVILLE, W.Va.--

Jimmy Work, 42, of New Martinsville was arrested Thursday morning after he tackled a woman on Route 2, pushing her to the ground and stealing her purse, police said.

Police were able to catch up with Work a quarter mile down the road and arrest him.

The woman said the attacker was so forceful, the straps on her purse broke.

She was injured in the incident.

Work was charged with one count of first-degree robbery and was arraigned Thursday morning by Magistrate Judith Goontz. His bail was set at $50,000.
