New Tool Helps Ohio State Patrol Test Drunken Drivers

Police in Jefferson County are learning how to use a new tool to test for drunken drivers.

The Intoxilyzer 8000 will soon be used in every police department in Ohio for alcohol breath tests. Tuesday, Ohio Department of Health officials gathered officers at the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Wintersville to teach them about the new device.

The machine is portable and can be taken out to sobriety test checkpoints. To date, more than 10,000 people in Ohio have learned how to use the machine and officials said the Wintersville state police barracks should have it this summer.
