New Year’s resolutions span wide range

By Kate Davison

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

The onset of a new year has a little different ring for everyone, especially when it comes to a 2013 resolution.

"My New Year’s resolution is to be a great father and a great husband," Wheeling resident Ray Matheny said.

Some just want to focus on their families, while others say a New Year’s resolution hasn't even crossed their minds.

But it was a different crowd at World Gym in Bellaire. Members nailed their resolutions down to a matter of pounds.

"My New Year’s resolution this year would definitely have to be to put on about 5 more pounds of muscle," Wheeling resident Blake Williams said.

"Everybody's New Year’s resolution is to be fit for the new year," World Gym manager Stacy Baker said.

Baker sees members working on their fitness right through the winter blues.

"We've definitely seen a lot of people come through the doors in the past couple of weeks. January and February are our busiest months," Baker said.

NEWS9 found several local health-related smartphone apps to help keep New Year’s resolutions on track: RunKeeper, Fooducate and DietBet. Mint is recommended to stay on top of finances.
