A Caldwell man accused of shooting and killing his wife early Monday is in the Noble County Jail on $1 million bond.

Jerad Morrison, 24, is charged with one count of murder in connection with the shooting death of his wife, 22-year-old Tiffany Morrison.

According to a news release from the sheriff's office, authorities responded to a shooting at 702 Miller St. around 4:15 a.m. Officials found Tiffany Morrison lying on the floor of the home and her husband beside her.

Authorities said they believe Jerad Morrison shot his wife during an argument.

In the news release, authorities said Morrison is believed to be in violation of a section of the Ohio Revised Code that states, "No person shall purposely cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another's pregnancy."

A gag order has been issued in the case, prohibiting officials from releasing any more information. As of Tuesday afternoon, investigators did not say if Tiffany Morrison was pregnant when she was killed.

At the home, strollers and play sets were set up around the house, but there were no children around.

Dr. Ruth Tarleton, a neighbor, said the couple has two children who were not harmed during the incident. Due to the gag order, officials did not release information about any children.

Tarleton said neighbors said they are still in disbelief and said they didn't hear anything until medics began to arrive.

"I just can't believe what has happened," she said. "We don't have air conditioning, our windows were open and we didn't hear anything."

Tarleton said the Morrisons moved into the home about a year ago and said she never noticed anything unusual about the couple's relationship from the outside.

"He and she were very friendly," Tarleton said. "Never any bad words between them or nastiness."

She said she can't help but feel guilty, wondering if she could have done anything to prevent this.

"I just think the moral of this story possibly is that people need to guard their anger and, if they have anger problems, they need to get help," she said.
