SHADYSIDE, Ohio —
One person was killed in a fire early Monday in Belmont County.
Ohio State Fire Marshal public information officer Shane Cartmill said the victim was not identified as of 2 p.m. and an autopsy will likely be performed.
The fire was reported to Belmont County 911 around 9 a.m. at a trailer on Wegee Road in Shadyside.
State Fire Marshal investigators arrived at the scene around 11:30 a.m. and are working with local authorities on the investigation.
Cartmill said the cause of the blaze was not immediately known.
Sheriff Fred Thompson, Belmont County detectives and a Bureau of Criminal Investigation unit are also at the scene and crime scene tape has also been put up.
