Ohio gov. in Valley as natural gas company opens field office

By Kate Davison

CADIZ, Ohio --

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is in the Ohio Valley as a natural gas business readies to open a field office in Harrison County.

Kasich is joining MarkWest Energy Partners for the official grand opening of its offices. The company signed an agreement with Cadiz to lease 207 acres of village land in the industrial park to develop a pumping station.

Officials said about 40 to 50 jobs are expected to come out of the agreement at the industrial park.

In addition, Markwest has also contracted to purchase the Rosebud Mining Headquarters on East Market Street for administrative purposes. About 20 to 25 jobs will be created out of that office, company officials said.
