WHEELING, W.Va.—
Wheeling police are investigating a fatal car crash that happened around 10 a.m. Friday morning on River Road.
Police say that a car, driven by a Christopher Birch, hit a car traveling southbound.
A female driver from Wellsburg was taken to Wheeling Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Birch remains hospitalized.
Police said that the name of the victim is not being released at this time.
The accident remains under investigation, and charges are pending. Police did confirm for NEWS9 that it appears alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash.
