CARROLL COUNTY, Ohio —

Jefferson County superintendent Dr. Dave Quattrochi has resigned from his position and will move to Carroll County School District as itsnew head of education in August.

Board members welcomed Quattrochi in his new post as superintendent of Carrollton Exemptive schools Saturday.

Quattrochi told NEWS9 his decision to resign as superintendent of Edison Local schools came Thursday night.

"One of my goals, and I believe I speak on behalf of the board, is to promote positive community relations, get out there in the public and let everyone know the need," said Quattrochi, about his new position in Carroll County.

With the change effective Tuesday, Edison Local School District will need to act quicklyto fill the position.

Plagued with financial problems over the years after funding cuts and failed levies, the Edison district is facing a tough time, but Quattrochi said he has confidence. "They have some strong people that will absolutely lead that district in the right direction. There's no doubt in my mind," said Quattrochi.

Parents and teachers in Carroll Countysaid they are excited and want issues addressed.

"There's been some bullying issues that have happened here in our school district that need to be addressed," said Michelle Roberts, a parent with two children.

School officials said they are ready to see Quattrochi tackle the curriculum and funding challenges. "With common core coming into play and with passing the OAA's, it (puts) a lot of pressure on school districts," said Assistant Principal Darin Abel, of Carrollton Elementary School.

Quattrochi said his experience from Edison Local schools will help bring the Carrollton community together. “I’vebeen involved in several levy campaigns, and I strongly feel my experience and ability to communicate with the stakeholders in the community (will help)," he said. "I absolutely feel that we can move this district to the next level."

Until he takes his position on August 1, he will act on a consulting basis for Carroll County, Quattrochi said.

In the meantime, he said he is working to make the transition as smooth as possible.
