OSHP search for truck thief after pursuit

By Briona Arradondo

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio —

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is searching for a man who led troopers on a pursuit early Sunday morning in Guernsey County with a stolen pick-up truck.

Cambridge troopers said they tried to stop the driver of a tan Ford Ranger for a speeding about 3:10 a.m. on Ohio Avenue. However, the driver decided to lead them on a pursuit through back roads.

Troopers said the man turned onto Sigman Road, then led troopers into the woods before heading east on Reservoir Road. Eventually, the truck came up on a bike trail and the driver plowed through the pillars onto the bike path.

The impact disabled the vehicle, and pieces of the damaged truck littered the ground. Cruisers couldn't get through, so troopers said they began their search.

By the time they reached the truck in the woods, troopers said the driver had abandoned it and fled on foot. After running the license plates, troopers discovered the truck was reported stolen.

While troopers chased the truck thief, authorities said the owner was at home asleep.

If anyone has information about the chase, please contact the OSHP Cambridge post.
