The West Virginia Poison Center has issued an alert about the energy version of a liquid water enhancer after several children consumed too much and became ill.

The Dominion Post reports that the center has received reports of four children, ages 5 to 12, becoming ill so far this year.

Two reports came in one week. That prompted the alert issued to schools, health care providers and county health departments.

MiO Energy is one of several varieties of Kraft Foods' liquid water enhancer.

Kraft Foods spokesman Russell Dyer says one serving of MiO Energy, about a half teaspoon, contains about the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee.

Dyer says the package directs consumers to dilute the product before consuming it.
