Paden City police chief resigns

PADEN CITY, W.Va. —

Paden City police chief Michael Billiter has resigned his position as chief following his guilty plea in court last week. This is according to Paden City mayor Bill Fox.

Billiter had been on unpaid leave since September when he was arrested for domestic battery, police said.

Billiter pleaded guilty last week to one count of domestic battery and one count of destruction of property following a September incident, according to court documents.

Mike Ownes is serving as interim chief.
