Pet Alligator Found Stomped To Death

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

In Belmont County, a family found their pet alligator stomped to death in their own yard.

Carmen Wallace is the owner of the reptile and said she tied up the alligator outside in the yard for 15 minutes while she was cleaning the cage out.

When she walked back out she found the alligator lying dead with abrasions on the side of its face, leg broken and even its eyes and face smashed in.

Wallace rescued the alligator about a year ago from Buckeye Lake and is extremely upset something like this happened.

"Why would someone do something like that to my animal? I run a reptile rescue. I love my animals. I have other large reptiles but they are in locked cages. Why hurt a defenseless animal?"said Wallace

Wallace has contacted the Belmont County Sheriff's Office to investigate.
