CHARLESTON, W.Va. —
A West Virginia woman who lost her home to December's explosion in Sissonville is weighing in on pipeline safety.
Sue Bonham is among several witnesses slated for a Monday field hearing led by Senate Commerce Chairman Jay Rockefeller.
The West Virginia Democrat organized the Charleston hearing after the Columbia Gas Transmission Line blast destroyed homes and damaged Interstate 77.
Monday's hearing also features National Transportation Safety Board chair Deborah Hersman and Cynthia Quarterman of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
Before the hearing, Rockefeller criticized the U.S. Office of Management of Budget for slowing down potential safety rules meant to respond to the Sissonville explosion and similar accidents.
Hersman said 2.5 million miles of gas pipelines stretch across the country and beneath its communities.
