By Briona Arradondo and  NEWS9

WHEELING, W.VA. and BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

A Belmont County man is behind bars Saturday after leading multiple authorities on a chase Friday night that spanned two counties.

Wheeling police said Eduardo M. Williams, Jr., of Bellaire, drove his green Mitsubshi car ran a stop sign at the intersection of South Wabash and Delaware streets on Wheeling Island about 8:15 p.m.

Police attempted to pull Williams over when he drove into Gumby's parking lot on South Wabash before making a left turn on Zane street, authorities said. He crossed the bridge into Bridgeport and led Wheeling officers and Belmont County sheriff's deputies on a chase down Route 7, police said.

According to Belmont County Sheriff Fred Thompson, Williams pulled into his home near 43rd and Franklin streets in Bellaire then jumped out his car heading toward Bellaire hospital. Belmont County authorities arrested Williams shortly after, and he is in the county jail, Thompson said.

Wheeling police said they have a warrant for Williams if he is extradited, and they are charging him with a stop sign violation, fleeing in a vehicle and driving under a suspended license. NEWS9 is working to learn what charges he may face from Belmont County.
