Police investigate break-in at downtown Wheeling office building

By NEWS9

WHEELING, W.Va. —

Police are investigating a break-in at a downtown Wheeling office building.

Investigators said the crime happened Monday night at the Altmeyer Funeral Homes offices. The burglar used a brick to get in a back door then ransacked the building.

Originally, it was reported that the funeral home itself was broken into. On Friday, officials clarified that the office building was broken into, not the funeral home.

The office building is next door to the funeral home on 14th Street. The burglar also went through an upstairs apartment in the office building.

Officials said it doesn't appear anything is missing and they're searching for clues left behind by the burglar.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police or the NEWS9 Lauttamus Security Crime Busters Tipline at 800-862-BUST.
