Port Authority ramps up to become primary economic development agency in Jefferson Co.

By NEWS9

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

The Jefferson County Port Authority Board of Directors says they're "gaining traction" as they ramp up to become the primary economic development agency in the county.

The board met Tuesday morning at the Jefferson County Airpark conference room.

On the agenda was hiring attorneys as the port authority develops its charter. The authority is also providing an update to local businessman John Riley, who is attempting to expand his petroleum business at the Jefferson County Industrial Park.

Riley's business expansion is one of several economic development projects transitioning between the recently-dissolved Community Improvement Corp. and the new port authority.
