Post Office Investigates Missing Voter Registration Forms

The Steubenville Post Office is continuing its investigation into the missing voter registration forms from Franciscan University after an empty envelope which had contained the forms arrived at the Jefferson County Board of Elections.

The voter registration forms have been found.

The empty envelope was stamped “received unsealed” on Friday at the Jefferson County Board of Elections.

Although mail travels from Steubenville to Youngstown for sorting, the forms ended up in Pittsburgh.

“We’re now getting the original envelope from the university,” said Postmaster Anita Petrella. “We can look for the bar code on the back of the envelope to make sure the envelope was sealed when it left the university.”

Republicans at the campus of Franciscan University collected the forms during a two-week campaign earlier this month.
