Wind advisories in effect; Power outages reported throughout NEWS9 coverage area

The Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for much of the NEWS9 viewing area.

Counties in Ohio under the advisory include Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Guernsey, Harrison, Jefferson, Monroe, Noble and Tuscarawas.

In West Virginia, counties under the advisory in the NEWS9 viewing area are Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, Ohio, Tyler and Wetzel.

Power outages were also reported throughout the NEWS9 viewing area on Monday. The number of customers without power can change frequently. Click on the links below for the latest numbers:

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh put the wind advisory in effect until 3 a.m. Tuesday. Winds are expected to increase Monday afternoon and gusts could reach up to 50 mph. The Weather Service said the strongest wind gusts are expected between 3-7 p.m. Monday.

Scattered tree and power-line damage can be expected, and some minor property damage is possible during the highest gusts. The Weather Service said travel will be difficult for high-profile vehicles.
