Power restoration efforts continue, cooling stations remain open

AEP Ohio

OHIO VALLEY —

AEP Ohio restored power Sunday to more than 185,000 of the 660,000 customers affected by the June 29 storms in the area, officials said in a news release.  According to the news release, high winds of more than 80 mph knocked down transmission structures, poles, power lines and trees across AEP Ohio's service area.  Meanwhile, cooling stations will remain open in parts of Marshall County while power is restored, said Emergency Management Agency Director Tom Hart. The Marshall County Fairgrounds, Chesapeake Building and Benwood Fire Department areas will open at 12 p.m. until 7 p.m.  Power is back on at the Moundsville Water Plant, but residents are still asked to use water as needed while water tanks are filled, Hart said. McMechen and Cameron both have water services restored. The public service District 2 pump stations have power while crews are working to restore power to District 4 stations.  EMA crews provided portable generators to Marshall County residents that need oxygen treatment.  Belmont County Water and Sewer customers remain under a 48-hour boil order and water conservation order issued Saturday.
