NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. —
A property dispute erupted this month between the Hancock County Commission and the Manypenny Law Office in New Cumberland.
Both sides were scheduled to meet in Hancock County Circuit Court to discuss a Motion of Injunction filed by the commission to stop alleged actions by the owners of the Manypenny Law Office, Lawrence and Constance Manypenny.
Court documents filed on Feb. 6 accuse the Manypennys of obstructing justice by trying to impede business at Hancock County Magistrate Court by putting up signs and barriers.
The Manypennys say they own the property that houses the sidewalk and staircase to enter magistrate court.
Both sides declined making a comment to NEWS9 until after a hearing to discuss the Motion of Injunction on Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. Judge David Hummel, Jr. out of West Virginia's second district will preside over the hearing since four circuit court judge in the first district recused themselves from the hearing.
