JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

A recount has verified that Robert Vukelic will be on the November ballot in the race for Jefferson County commissioner.

Last week's official vote count had Vukelic beating Bob Smith for the Democratic nomination by only 10 votes, and a recount was automatically declared.

The Board of Elections started hand-counting the votes around 10 a.m. Thursday.

Jefferson County Board of Elections Chairman Rick Desman said that the process is good because it lets the public know that elections workers are doing their job for "a fair and honest election."

Now that the recount is completed, the results are final and no additional recounts will be held.
