Residents Crowd Newly Reopened Pool

SHADYSIDE, Ohio —

After going without use for one year, the Shadyside pool has reopened for business.

NEWS9 dropped by Monday to catch a glimpse of the action, and it seemed other residents had the same idea. The pool was crowded with both kids and adults.

The village declared the pool would only reopen if 130 pool passes were sold.

The pool met their goal through donations totaling over $1,600.

NEWS9 spoke with pool manager Melanie Haswell who said this is great for the kids.

“There's not much for kids to do, so this is a place where they can see their friends all year and they don't have to waste any of the expense of gas money," Haswell said.

Haswell also said many generations of families came to the Shadyside pool every summer, and she's just happy that tradition can continue for the village.
