BARNESVILLE, Ohio —
Barnesville Mayor Ron Bischof said residents brought concerns of speeding vehicles to a Village Council meeting earlier this week.
Residents said drivers tear through Pine Lane and Morgantown Avenue.
"What we're going to do is look at the situation, try to pinpoint the times, try to talk to some of the residents," Bischof said.
Bischof noted the lack of sidewalks on the streets creates another problem with nowhere for residents to walk or run safely.
"We don't have sidewalks, so obviously a speeding vehicle is in a little closer proximity to any pedestrians that may be walking along the berm of the road," Bischof said.
Bischof said he and Police Chief Dave Norris went to scout out speeding and other violations Wednesday afternoon, hoping to catch someone in the act.
"We want to find a good location for an officer to perhaps spend some time over in that location and observe incidents of speeding and the incidents of running the stop sign," Bischof said.
