Residents shocked by Friday's storm aftermath

GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio —

According to the National Weather Service, a tornado did not hit the Ohio Valley Friday. However, residents in multiple counties are still hard at work repairing the damage the storm caused.

"I put my hard hat on. Just, that's how bad it was," said Nick Wilder, who was forced to pull over during the storm.

"I just had tostop," Wilder said. "I didn't have any idea whether we were -- you know. (I said a) quick prayer."

In Cambridge, tree limbs line the streets, and shards of wood are actually embedded into the side of a concrete building. Residents said they've never seen a storm of that magnitude.

"On my sun porch, the door that goes into my living room, my daughter and myself was sitting there, and I'm 150 pounds, and it was moving the door and moving us, too," said Sherri Connor of Cambridge, Ohio. "That's how strong the winds were."

Wilder, who doesn't live in Cambridge, said he didn't realize the storm caused as much damage as it did until he talked to his brother.

"My brother told me Saturday afternoon he'd been in town, and I said, 'What's it look like?' And he said, 'Well, a bomb went off, basically,' and he said, 'That big church with theA-frame, it's gone. And I said, 'That's where I was sitting -- right in front of it, so you know, God did look out for us," Wilder said.
