River Routs Magnolia 31-6

The River Pilots picked up their second straight win against cross-river rival Magnolia Friday night, defeating the Blue Eagles 31-6. Coach Mike Flannery's squad took advantage of three Magnolia first half turnovers and a number of penalties to lead 31-0 at the half.

Junior quarterback Dylan Potts provided three of the touchdowns, scoring twice in the first quarter, and once more in the second stanza. He finished the game with 108 yards rushing. Tyler Brooks scored the third River touchdown, his second rushing score of the season. A Brooks interception set up Potts' second touchdown in the first quarter. Greg Carietti picked off a Justin Fox pass in the second quarter, leading to Potts' third score. Daniel Starr's interception and ensuing 68 yard return set up sophomore Tanner Wright's 40 yard field goal late in the first half.

Magnolia falls to 0-1 and will host Williamstown (1-0) next Friday in New Martinsville. The Pilots improve to 2-0 entering another rivalry contest at Monroe Central (0-2).
