Robber Uses Ax To Smash Way Into Wheeling Pharmacy

Wheeling police are searching for the person or persons who broke into a pharmacy early Wednesday.

Police said they responded to an alarm at The Medicine Shoppe in the Woodsdale neighborhood on National Road around 2:30 a.m.

When they arrived, police found the glass on the door broken out and an ax lying on the floor inside.

The pharmacy owners said some pills were missing but they did not immediately notice anything else that may have been taken.

"We're just going to continue as we are. Nothing's going to change. We have a little bit of information where they've got fingerprinting, surveillance, and we feel sure that whoever did this eventually will be caught," said Maryann McCardle of The Medicine Shoppe.

The pharmacy was open for business Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
