School officials mum after marathon disciplinary hearing

After nearly four hours, the Marshall County Board of Education adjourned a lengthy executive session dealing with the termination of a professional employee.

The meeting, which began at 6:30 p.m. Monday and ended after 10:30, was held behind closed doors in the school board's Moundsville offices.

The board considered two issues: Superintendent Fred Renzella's recommendation for a suspension and the termination of a professional employee. School officials have declined to identify the employee.

Administrators would not comment before the hearing, saying only that the hearing followed a forensic audit of financial records at Cameron High School.

Several people were invited into the board room to testify and a representative of the West Virginia Education Association was seen outside the board room.

School administrators did not return NEWS9's call for a comment following Monday's meeting.
