Search for stolen car, missing juvenile ends in Ohio Valley

By Josh Eachus

WHEELING, W.Va.-- On New Year’s Day the Wheeling Police Department recovered a stolen car on Wheeling Island that has also had a connection to a missing juvenile.

They believe 23-year-old Derrick Odell Martin drove the car to the valley, but they also believe he wasn’t alone.

By contacting the car’s owners in Cheraw, S.C., police also learned that the 15-year-old son of the couple who owned that car had run away.

When the parents came to Wheeling to recover their car, they saw their son roaming the sidewalk outside of the soup kitchen on 16th Street.

“The parents were able to take their son, get him back, I don't believe there was any altercation with the gentleman that was with him. That gentleman left the area and we are currently looking for him," said Lt. Mike Anderson of the Wheeling Police Department.

Martin is wanted out of Chesterfield County, S.C., where this all started, for grand larceny.
